Stepping into a new decade....

Today is my 30th birthday. It's official: I am no longer in my twenties. I feel so thankful to be able to celebrate my birthday with my family. The first thing that comes to mind is, how did I get here so quickly? As a child I thought time was moving at a snails pace. Today I am fully aware just how fleeting every moment is. I once heard someone say "the days are long but the years are quick" On my 30th I don't think those words have ever rung so true. I am thankful to God for these 30 years I've been given. Even through difficult times, life is good.

Entering this new decade can bring a mix of emotions. It has me feeling thankful and as I've gotten older, I've learned that every birthday (and a new smile line) is a gift.

Like many of us, my 20's were filled with so much learning, discipline, growth, travel and love. I married a man who wished me a happy 21st birthday on my Facebook and then proposed before I turned 27. I have officially spent my entires 20's with you, Mitch! It's easy to think about "where we should be" or focus on what we have yet to accomplish, but don't forget to reflect on where you were five years ago.

I have goals and new chapters to open in my 30's. There were and always will be mistakes, accomplishments and new discoveries in your 20's (heck, in life!) so here are a few things I have learned by my 30th birthday!

  • The more time you spend with God the more your love will grow for other people.
  • Don't worry what everyone is thinking about you. They aren't. They are thinking about themselves.
  • Comparison is the theif of all joy, don't do it! I know, easier said then done but be aware of what you are consuming online and how it affects your thoughts.
  • Don't go into unnecessary debt.
  • Spend money on experiences and invest in the rest. Time is very valuable resource when saving money. Thats how Mitch and I were able to build our own home.
  • Travel! Some of the best lessons, memories and experiences have come from far places. Traveling teaches you so much about the world outside of your backyard and gives you a new perspective of your own culture.
  • Wherever you are, be all there. Put down your phone. When I build my instagram stories from a trip, everything comes from my camera roll. Its never real time which is why I struggled using snapchat, when everything was captured and shared at the moment. Be mindful of scrolling too. Time will slip away.
  • Be intentional. Time with family/friends will not be easy. Its time to be intentional and set time aside together because time will get away from you.
  • Eat well and exercise. Eat food that will nourish your body and exercise at least 30 minutes a day.
  • Don't take anyone or any day for granted. Tomorrow isn't guaranteed. Be sure to give hugs and say I love you. Live your day as if it may be your last.
  • Take pictures. I know family pictures are a lot of effort, but in the end those pictures will mean so much to you! Pictures become more valuable as time goes on.

and last but not least WE ARE PREGNANT!!!! 🧸 Our sweet little baby P is due on the 14th of February. I am so excited to meet my little koala bear. We are so stoked!!

Three years ago we said our do's! It is hard to believe it is year three already! The days go faster and time seems to be flying by from the time we became husband and wife. 7 months ago we moved into our new home and i just love who we are together and what we have built together and every moment is so special to me. I love us and the silly moments we share. Marriage is a relationship you are supposed to nurture every day and love will grow.

To think that three years into marriage, i still count choosing Mitch as my second best decision of all time.. My first best decision was choosing to follow the Lord - to listen, to obey, to repent, to believe - If i had to choose just one reason why our marriage works, it would be because God aligned us. When we did our pre-marital counselling sessions, our pastor had us individually answer a compatibility questionnaire which asked our expectations for partnership, family life, work & income, etc. From our passion for personal growth to our expectations of our marriage dynamic, its clear that God was always at work in our lives.

Three years into marriage, ive seen his loyalty and compassion. When you make your choice, be sure to pray and listen to the Lords response.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths - proverbs 3:5-6

I think the part where we get into trouble is when we ask but refuse to yield to the Lord. He's a good Father. He wants what's best for you. Pray and listen. His plans are for your benefit. I have prayed for our relationship, i see a man who is respectful, focused, smart, diligent, disciplined, drama-free and a good listener.

Theres a fascinating change of dynamic that occurs when your relationship changes from casually dating to committed to each other for life. My mindset shifted from "Buy me extravagant presents" to "Lets have a savings account."

Deeper still, you start to refine each other rather than ignoring the habits and quirks that are hampering your partners growth. You become partners & real friends - the kind of friend who calls you out on your excuses. In order to have someone sharpen you, you have to be willing to be sharpened. Otherwise, you'll run away at the first sign of friction. Here are 3 qualities I've cultivated in the past 3 years of marriage:

  1. Humility to be corrected by Him.
  2. Compassion to correct him.
  3. Love to recognise and affirm the best in him.

Whether you're single, dating, engaged, married or separated, i hope you know God's will for your life is good. His plan is for your benefit. If you're in a difficult season of your relationship, I'm fervently praying that Gods grace teaches you how to grow together to form a better marriage tomorrow than you had today. Every year that goes by, no matter the ups or downs, that's my prayer for Mitch and me. And i hope the same for you!

Mitch - i know you secretly scroll the gram' and stalk all of my posts 😉, but if you ever make it over to this blog, i love you more than you know and am so thankful that God brought you into my life 9 years ago, here's to many more ♡

I thought i would do something a little different in this post. 2019 marks the end of a decade. Here are my most memorable moments from the decade that was.

2010

I moved to Cooranbong and started studying at Avondale College, i studied Photography/General Studies and made some great memories with a bunch of friends.

2011

I quit college and spent the Australian winter in Europe with my family for 3 months (Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, France, Slovenia, Bosnia, Serbia, Croatia and London.)

2012

I started studying Business Administration at TAFE which led me to my very first job with the government and i also met and started dating Mitch 3 months later. I also celebrated turning 21 years old in Melbourne for a few nights in a penthouse with my boyfriend, cousin and friend. Fun times!

2013

Biggest highlight, i was a bridesmaid in one of my friends weddings. Which was beautiful and the reception was held at Rydges in Southbank.

2014

I was the maid of honour for my best friends wedding. She was married on the gold coast. I also started an online women's clothing business called Miss Rosa Boutique which i kept for about 4 years, this was a fun experience, i learnt a-lot and am glad I had the opportunity to experience owning my own business which I've always wanted to do.

2015

Spent three weeks travelling to South Africa + London + France with my boyfriend.

2016

Travelled to Japan for the very first time with my boyfriend and his friends. If you haven't been, you should definitely put it on your travel bucket list.

2017

Got engaged to my love during our second trip to Japan. He proposed in Disneyland!! Best.day.ever.

2018

Married my husband and took off 3 months to travel to the Maldives, Greece, Abu-Dhabi, Dubai, Jordan, Egypt and the USA for our honeymoon. If you look at my older posts you will see ive done one of my wedding and our travels. ☺️

2019

This year i travelled to South Korea for my cousins wedding which was epic and bought a block of land with my husband - we will be building in March 2020. Very very excited!

I am excited to see what the next 10 years will bring. I'm ready for the new days and new adventures, bring on 2020!
